In spite of the monumental events of these turbulent times, this blog has not featured many posts of late. Blogger in chief, actually the only blogger, Jean-Baptiste, has been busy with other matters. It is not because he has been overwhelmed by the onslaught of the popular press, such as the incessant frivolities from the trivial triumvirate of syndicate columnists, David Brooks, E.J. Dionne Jr., and David Sirota. It is true that untwisting the truth from their daily barrages against conservatism and their progressive propaganda would be a full-time job. Lately, they have repeated the big lie that BHO is actually moderate. Glen, Mark, Laura, Sean, and Rush along with their guests have gone to enormous lengths to show that he is our most radically leftist president in history. (Jean-Baptiste suspected this all along.) Also see David Limbaugh's book, Crimes Against Liberty, for a rundown of the evidence against BHO.
Actually, Jean-Baptiste has been meditating on the 'gods of the copybook headings.' Who are they? Kipling's poem says that they are not the market place. That leaves the Progressives as the primary suspect. Anyway, read the past blogs on The Overton Window, or Glen Beck's book itself for an explanation of what all that is about. Kipling's poem gives some insight into the motives of these 'god-like' progressives, delving into the 'Great Mystery.' The Great Mystery is: why do they keep doing it, why can't they just leave us alone? Is it their depraved greed and lust or some mental defect?
Anyway, Jean-Baptiste also had a garden and berry bushes to cultivate and harvest during the Summer. He had cats, birds, and raccoons to take care of. He had a lot of work to do outside. He had his stamp collection to work on. He even had to get away a little. Lately,he was also reading the Koran. The part where God says, 'remember me, I will remember you,' seems to fathom some unknowable depth. The first words of every chapter are, 'In the name of God, the beneficent, the merciful.' Beneficent means He gives us more that we deserve, merciful means that He punishes us less that we deserve. Christian mystics have said they pray incessantly, by saying the Jesus prayer with every breath: 'Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.' The Islamic mystics repeat: 'There is no God but God." For the less theistic: 'There is no Reality but the Ultimate Reality.'
It can be a little tough to stay focused on the current convoluted progressive schemes of Axelrod, Emanuel, BHO, and their masters.

Still more Chickenshit
I was considering renaming this blog. Unfortunately, due to recent developments, that seems a little premature.
I have not posted here for a month. That's not because there has been nothing to write about. On the contrary, reading the local paper and other mainline media, there seems to be a great need to set the record straight. In fact, there seems to be so much misinformation and disinformation that it is hard to know where to begin. The tactic of the mainstream press seems to be to overwhelm the debate. By the time there is a response, they have moved on to promulgate some other factoid (something that sounds like a fact but not necessarily is) or error in reasoning. That's why Rush calls them the drive bys.
One example of an error in reasoning is represented by a proposition that has been often repeated of late. To wit: high levels of taxation are good for the economy. Hilary Clinton said so and now all the liberals are saying it. I guess that's what they mean by a talking point. Their proof of this is that during the Clinton administration, we had much higher income tax rates for the highest brackets. During that period, we had balanced federal budgets, even surpluses, and economic growth. This is an example of the post hoc fallacy. That is an error in reasoning involving the inference that if one event follows another, the first event must have caused the second. (The full name is post hoc ergo propter hoc -- after that, therefore on account of that.)
This is where the difficulties in unravelling this claims come in. I have not checked the economic data so I do not know if it was taxes collected from these higher tax brackets that brought about a healthy federal budget and economy (I doubt it). I seem to recall that Republican, Newt Gingrich was speaker of the Republican dominated House of Representatives. He proposed his 'contract with America,' which the press called a 'contract on America.' The House cut all of Clinton's spending proposals. They passed Welfare Reform over his multiple vetoes. In other words, Clinton was dragged to a balanced budget kicking and screaming. This and the fact that not many people paid the high income tax rates due to various tax avoidance strategies was probably what happened. As I said, I need to do some more research. This is one reason why the Austrian School believes that theories based upon mathematical economic analysis are mainly invalid. Statistics can show what happened but but not why. Common sense reasoning based upon observation of human behavior can tell us more.
Much more has been happening in the politicoeconomical realm. There's the Mosque at ground zero and its opponents, who the press portray as conservative bigots. There's the fed's plan to monetize the debt (which this blog said would eventually happen in an attempt to support the dollar.) There's the talk of further stimulus bills; the liberal talking point is that we have really not tried this yet, there was only the Bush (and therefore totally wrong headed and ineffective) TARP spending plan. Seems to me I recall a lot of Obama attempts at stimulus spending also, not to mention bailout/payoffs (e.g. to the auto workers). Just lately, there was the 'teacher bail-out.' This was a multi billion federal payment to the states so they could avoid cutting teacher salaries. Along with the funds come a federal mandate not to cut education spending by the states that accept the aid, including in subsequent years. (Seems there was a post about that here; Washington State did not want money offered earlier because of the strings attached.)
There has been much on the encouraging side as well. David Limbaugh's latest book catalogues the setbacks to liberty suffered by this nation due to the Obama policies. The book apparently addresses many of the catastrophic events that have lately befallen us; even an entire book is not nearly enough. Another recent happening was Glenn Beck's 'Restoring Honor' rally in Washington, DC. I wish I could have been there.

Gods of the Copybook Headings
Glenn Beck's book joins the growing genre of anti-totalitarian fiction books. Actually, the borders of the genre merges with the 'non-fictional' accounts such as, Darkness at Noon, Out of the Night, I Chose Freedom, and Witness. The Overton Window, by Glenn Beck is also advertised as a thriller. This blog would feature a book report if the blogger were not too tired (or lazy) to read the book anytime soon. (He will try.)

Glenn Beck and Global Elite Greed
Obama and his progressive / socialist / Communist coalition are issuing orders regarding so-called global warming CO2 production. Yes, as has been the view of this blog since post number one, this is potentially, and eventually if they get their way, extremely destructive to this country. It is also of nil value in affecting any climate change, even if we needed climate modification, which we do not. The new orders regarding taxation of energy usage will, at least at first, come from the EPA, not from congress. That is chiefly to avoid any congressional debate that could embarrass congressional supporters. Cap-and-Trade is an unpopular idea, as well it should be. It is a destructive attempt to solve a non-existent problem. (That is the non-cynical explanation.) Unfortunately, the evidence is piling up that their aim is strictly financial. Yes, that's right: greed. At the top of the heap are Gore and his compadres and corporate controllers, such as GE, and, who knows who else? They say it's the global elite's plan for world domination and fantastic profits via government sponsored piracy. That cynical explanation is shaping up to be more and more plausible and Glenn Beck is making more and more sense.
By the way, Mr. Beck's poem, actually Rudyard Kipling's, has AL Gore's poem beat by miles. By the way, the Huffington Post does not think very highly of it. It's not that they don't see the point, but it gets too much to their heart of darkness. How Prophetic:

Puorto Rico State Number 51
Did you hear that congress is voting for Puorto Rican statehood? Neither had I untill Glenn Beck this morning. See:

I emailed my representative in congress:
At a time when federal spending levels threaten the stability and future of our economy, it does not make sense to push a bill that favors admitting a 51st state that is so poor that taxpayer-funded welfare benefit spending would be guaranteed.
Also the stealth methods of this bill that are designed to deceive both the US and Porto Rican voters are repugnant to democracy and my idea of a deliberative representative legislature.
Will Democrat Norm Dicks care? I doubt it.

Lamestream Press: None So Blind
Two incongruous news stories are worthy of note. Last weekend, Bill Moyers on his penultimate broadcast (thank God) of the Journal on public TV decried the death of investigative journalism. I am moved to ask myself what he could possibly mean by that. Given the current shenanigans of our federal government, the field seems ripe for this endeavor. For those with eyes to see and ears to hear, now would seem to be the heyday of investigative journalism.
The other story was on Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning and apparently last night on television. This is the Frank Raines man-made global warming connection. As head of Fannie May, Mr. Raines made millions for himself while contributing to world wide economic melt down. (See Time Magazine article regarding the top 25 individuals responsible). It seems while he was bundling questionable mortgagees, just as the banks are being demonized for, he was setting up the structure for creating and trading carbon credits with Fannie May funds. All the interconnections are very murky and hard to follow. Glenn does his best with his blackboard. There are connections with the usual progressive and liberal money groups. Goldman Sachs, George Soros, and London are in there along with Al Gore and global warming crowd. I have to check out Glenn Beck's cite to get the full scoop. This is a fruitful area for investigation to my simple mind.

Sunday Night Wrap Up
Allan Hunt is a radio talk show host who says that it's not about right or left but it's about right or wrong. His show has a Christian slant. Tonight, before launching a telephone forum on the second half of his show for discussion of some celebrity's marital infidelity, he talked about national politics and economics. He said that President Obama should fire Rohm Emanuel and get a business friendly adviser. Really, aren't we way past that sort of discussion? Mr. Hunt believes that BHO could revitalize his ratings and the economy by coming out strongly with some pro-business proposals. He thinks he should start with ideas like low taxes, less regulation, and cessation of his verbal attacks. Wouldn't that be nice? This is like suggesting to the President of Iran that he could improve international relations by reversing his stance against Israel. Mr. Hunt is either naive or trying to be sarcastic. However, he is a good example of a commentator who is starting to see the light. He can see the obvious economic absurdities of trillion dollar 'stimulus' spending and borrowing but he still doesn't see that BHO is at best a devoted socialist and at worse an pawn for international communism.
Michael Medved is a local radio personality who tends to give liberal callers at lot of air time. He tries in vain to reason with many who pretend to be conservatives who only want to point out a few faults that they just cannot go along with. It should be obvious to Mr. Medved what they are doing: advancing their propaganda and trying to chip away at the expanding conservative advances. They usually start out with a false premise, which Mr. Medved doesn't adequately challenge but instead addresses their fake issues. The other day he finally got totally irate regarding a plan of King county, the State of Washington, and Seattle to build more light rail. Not only would this be immensely expensive, take at least ten years, and expand a system that hardly anybody uses already, but it would also completely disrupt the one east-west freeway in the Seattle area that does not have chronic traffic jams. Local planers figure if they can screw-up traffic enough, people will finally start using their multibillion dollar trains. Mr. Medved was extremely incensed with the unmitigated stupidity of the plan which he says helps no one but those building it [editorial note: and the politicians on the take]. He probably commutes via that freeway. Fortunately, this uncompromising indignation lately has extended to his discussion of national issues also.
Billy Cunningham, who has a national talk show on Sunday's does not need any encouragement. Kieth Overbite has for the sixth time awarded him the worse person on earth award, or some such thing. Mr. Cunningham goes a little overboard treating this like his sixth Medal of Honor. It's more of a distinguished service cross. Mr. Cunningham keeps the pressure up on several neglected fronts, the 'Obama birth' cover-up for example. There is definitely a lot of details about the Precedent's past that are being covered-up. We just do not know exactly what. The press should make them come clean They won't of course, which brings us to the mrc.org site (Media Research Center). Mr. Cunningham (aka, The Great American) referred interested listeners to that site for the latest Obamaphilic and Limbaughphobic quotations from our wise, objective media gurus.
Lastly, Glenn Beck Weekend is aired on Sunday. (That's why you see so many people with earphones in Church.) Glenn pulls no punches. He may irk Mark Levin (and me) with his remarks about Republicans being as bad as Democrats, but it is clear where his sentiments are. He does not like what is happening to our great nation and he feels certain there is much more of the same coming. "Feels" is the key word for Glenn. Although he has perhaps the best mind and instincts of any commentator, his feelings are more often than not what he discusses. He feels foreboding. With history and common sense as a guide, who can argue with him? However, Glenn's fight is not against BHO, for it transcends mundane politics. He does not struggle against flesh and blood but against the powers of darkness. I hope he has on the full armour required for that fight. Humor may be his best gift and weapon. (It was through oversight that he was not included in the list of radio commentators earlier in this blog; he deserves a high place on the list.)

BHO Underground Organizations Revealed
Glenn Beck appeared on major network TV interviewed by Katie Couric. Ms. Couric made her name when she interviewed Sarah Palin before the election. Sarah Palin didn't come across too well, especially according to her opponents. On Couric's TV show Glenn Beck made the statement that John McCain would have been worse for the country that Barack Obama. Was he suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome?
Glenn has long claimed to be independent from any political party. He has stated many times that both the Republicans and the Democrats are part of the problem. That's why Mark Levin seldom has much good to say about him. Mr. Levin is definitely of the opinion that the only chance of salvation from BHO is the Republican Party. There is no time for a third party or any similar movement. Mr. Levin does aspire to a 'new' Republican Party, in exactly the same context that Ronald Reagan called for just that.
I hope that Glenn's remarks to Katie Couric will have the affect of attracting attention to his radio and TV program. There are some horrific aspects of the BHO administration that Glenn is bringing to light. His explanations may lack completeness but he is in the process of figuring it out himself. Who really can sort out the ACORN, Apollo Alliance, TIDE, HUD, SEIU, etc. connections when those connections were intentionally hidden. There apparently are dozens of semi-secret, underground organizations that have seemingly legitimate front groups. The front groups receive government funds and non-profit status while furthering the aims of their underground controllers. George Soros, according to Glenn (and a lot of others) is behind most of it. The aims of these underground orginizations is unadultarated communism.
By the way, we do not want communism and all that it implies. If you do not know what it implies, there is much written on the subject. You should find out before we give it a try. It took the USSR 70 years to unwind so far and they still have a ways to go. (It took tens of millions dead too in case you hadn't heard.)
I certainly don't get it but I know I don't like it. I hope people with the time and resources will dig deep in this manure pile. People who understand the politics, history, and methods of communism could have fun with this. Mostly, they need to keep talking. The BHO organization will of course not sit still but will counter attack. The alternative press is bound to be the next target number one.

Revolution's Progress
Many items in the news lately regarding issues important to Americans.
1) President Barack Obama: Naive-in-Chief, stunning clulessness, and insults to America-- London Times
Today another BHO speech to UN: Nuclear disarmament and lecturing. (I didn't actually hear the speech but I am sure it contained lecturing.) Some nuclear enforcement ideas are good if directed at the problem areas but goal of world without nuclear weapons is deceivingly idiotic, like gun control.
In the 1930's there was a multilateral international agreement to ban war. WWII followed soon after.
Gordon Brown, PM was good, Sarcosie, French President, was great. Great Britain says they will scrap one of their four nuclear armed subs. Who cares, but a bad symbolic statement.
BHO foreign policy abandons Poland, Checz Republic, Israel, UK, and Honduras
Supports Iran, N. Korea, Venezuela, and Russia
2) Glen Beck v. Republican party. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result, says Glenn. Yes, the R's we supported were a disappointment in the recent past. They not only reached across the isle, but they ran over and sat on the Demo's laps and gave em a big kiss on the cheek. But there are degrees of insanity. Creating a third party or similar movements have always been very disastrous in the past. The left has a circus of clowns. We need one too and there is room in the Republican tent for Glen.
3) Ongoing press difficulties. Freedom v. the G.C.P. (Government Controlled Press). Why are the primary news media having financial trouble? The market for drivel is saturated and only outlets for truth are in low supply.
4) Pending hazardous legislation: Health care (for yet another free market solution, see: http://mises.org/3699 Is Emergency Care a Failed Market: by Eric M. Staib; 9/24/09), Wall Street regulation/take over (back burner now but just wait; RINO please say no to this), Global Warming still the worst of the worst. The unwitting and otherwise compliance of the press and environmental groups is the only way this monstrous idea could survive. We really need some light on this to expose it for what it is. Speaking of exposing, what about ACORN and allied groups: an interlocking spider web of corruption, crime, and communism. As such, congress should cut back their government funding to only a few hundred million: honor among thieves.

A Man Alone: Frederic Bastiat
Radio host, Glen Beck, mussed that current events in these United States most resemble the final years of the Roman Empire. (Glen Beck is over dramatic if anything.) Although he may have a point in some respects, I do not think the downfall was precipitated by a radical departure from the status quo. I always thought that Rome's problems, although similar to ours, came on as a gradual decay. I do not know if there was a dramatic political change that greatly accelerated the trend, as is now occurring here.
I believe that a better comparison is to France prior to and during the 1848 Revolutions. Government Corruption, natural disasters, and economic downturn precipitated radical change. As changes occurred more and more rapidly, the corruption and economy worsened. I am in the process of reading a book on Frederic Bastiat, a member of the Chamber of Deputies, who was active as a political figure during those times. He was on a finance committee. While France was in the midst of more financial crises, Bastiat stood firmly against all of the socialist programs that had been adopted earlier and were being daily augmented. As I am just now reading the book, I will clarify and up-date this.
I had known about M. Bastiat from his writing and especially his aphorisms regarding politics and economics. I will put some in my next post. The book is, "Frederic Bastiat A Man Alone." It was written in 1971 by George Charles Roche III, published by Arlington House in their Architects of Freedom series.
